Here are two photos of a Danish dancer of the 1950s and '60s wearing the 19th century classical ballet shoe for men.

 

Mette Mollerup (later Balanchine's Terpsichore) and Henning Kronstam, about 1953, in the Zouave Galop of Emilie Wahlbom's Dream Pictures. You can really see the point of the extended foot.
